How to pass exams by using the Language of Ideas.
To get qualifications in any subject students have to pass exams. This is not merely a matter of technique – reading the question, planning the time, finishing the paper etc. - but also of the level of academic language skills
Some students, no matter how hard they work, have difficulty in understanding what the examiner requires of them.
This is very often for the following reasons:
- They get lost in the detail of the subject and cannot pick out the abstract words which are the key to good exam answers.
- They are not clear about the framework of both question and answer.
