Concrete solutions to concrete problems
Everyday life is full of concrete problems to which we hope to find practical solutions. For example:
Situation: I depend on my washing-machine to keep my family's clothes in good order. We are all engaged in different sports, so the machine is in use every day. It is a good machine and it never gives any trouble.
Problem: I turned on the washing-machine the other day and nothing happened.
Solution: I called the helpline. They told me to check that it was plugged in. I found the dog had jumped up and caused the plug to fall out of the socket.
Outcome: I replaced the plug and the machine started at once. What a relief!
